A family mold can fit when related parts are used together, demand is balanced and design changes are unlikely. It becomes risky when one part changes often or quality requirements differ too much.

When multi-cavity is stronger
A multi-cavity mold is usually stronger when one part has stable geometry and enough demand to justify higher tooling investment for lower unit cost.
