Injection mold design and manufacturing FAQ.
Answers for buyers preparing CAD files, DFM review, mold quotes, export molds, T1 samples and mold repair requests.
Use FAQ answers to prepare better quote inputs.
These answers filter whether a request belongs on the mold tooling site, industrial design site or injection molding production site.
Can you quote without STEP files?
A rough fit review can start from drawings or photos, but accurate mold quotes need 3D CAD and clear assumptions.
Is the first DFM review free?
A first fit review can identify obvious risk. Detailed redesign or full engineering work is a paid scope.
What happens if first samples have issues?
T1 findings should become an issue list with likely cause, correction action, revised sample status and buyer approval gate.
Can the mold be shipped to our molder?
Yes when export standards, connectors, spare parts, trial report, packing and acceptance rules are defined early.
Who owns the injection mold?
Ownership, storage, maintenance, transfer conditions and document availability should be clarified before deposit.
Can you fix an existing mold?
It depends on mold condition, access, drawings, defect evidence and whether the correction is technically and commercially realistic.
FAQ should reduce back-and-forth.
The best first message explains the decision you need to make and the evidence available.
